Plant-Based Radboud University ?
A call to sign the petition for a Plant-Based Radboud University
On behalf of the Radboud Centre for Sustainability Challenges, we share the following call to sign the petition to accelerate the plant-based transition at Radboud University.
Plant-Based Universities is a student-led campaign that calls on universities to transition to 100% plant-based catering. Since its inception, this campaign has achieved landmark votes for fully plant-based catering transitions at 10 European Universities. Plant-Based Universities has over 80 active campaigns globally, with 5 in the Netherlands as of February 2024.
We are in a state of climate emergency. The role of food systems in climate change has long been understated, but in light of emerging climate science, we can no longer ignore it. In Europe, food alone is responsible for 30% of total greenhouse gas emissions. The majority of that is from meat and dairy, even though we get only a small percentage of our calories and nutrients from animal products. As centers of research, our universities have a responsibility to act in accordance with climate science and lead by example. Therefore, we call for Radboud University to transition to sustainable, 100% plant-based catering.
As a student or staff member of Radboud University or Radboudumc you can support the call for the Radboud to switch to 100% plant-based catering by signing our petition:
