Canopy – an umbrella association for sustainable initiatives in Nijmegen

An invitation and call to join the student sustainability network CANOPY!

Do you want to learn what’s out there related to student sustainability action? Or are you already in a sustainable initiative? Are you interested in meeting like-minded people, talking about sustainability, and hyping each other up? This is the community for you. Don’t hesitate and join us! 

Over the last couple of years, we have noticed that there is not a single place to go for information, find fellow sustainability enthusiasts and, in general, share sustainable news. Also, we have heard repeatedly that people feel like they want to contribute, but don’t know how. It has been very hard to reach already existing initiatives or create something of your own. We decided to change that!  

Canopy serves as an umbrella association for all sustainable initiatives in Nijmegen. So, you might be asking: What do we do?

We have a WhatsApp group, where anyone can share anything that they find interesting. A news report, an article, an event, or a fun workshop. We want to show that there are plenty of things to do and get involved in. 

We also support our community members in organizing their own events, workshops, and campaigns. You name it, we have it! All you need to do is reach out and we can make it happen. 

We are also in active communication with other sustainable initiatives, we promote their events and enable connections. So, if you already are in an initiative, you will benefit from joining too. 

Who can participate? 

EVERYONE!  

It doesn’t matter if you are RU, HAN, or ROC, everyone is welcome. All you need to be is interested in sustainability.

Events and borrels:

Canopy is an umbrella association for all sustainable initiatives in Nijmegen. So if you want to know what is happening there from the sustainable borrel is going to be the perfect place to provides space to meet like-minded people, share information, and, in general, hype about sustainability. 

Our first borrel will take place at the Café de Opstand on the 13 December. We will start by having a drink while listening to a short update about some exciting stuff from the sustainable world. And then we borrel! You will get to meet many like-minded people, share and hear about all the interesting things that you have been working on.
